Demirkale Caves
Adıyaman, which is almost an open-air museum with over 300 historical ruins, has many interesting historical buildings. The 4-storey Demirkale Cave on the Indere Canyon in the Zey village of Adıyaman city center is among the most interesting structures.
Governor Mahmut Çuhadar visited the 4-storey Demirkale Cave on the İndere Canyon in the Zey village of Adıyaman. Accompanied by Adıyaman Museum Director Mehmet Alkan, he learned about the caves, which are among the most interesting structures in Adıyaman. Governor Mahmut Çuhadar pointed out that Demirkale caves, which are the focus of attention of visitors with their hundreds of years of history, historical texture, unique nature and natural beauties, are very beautiful. It is known that the caves, which were registered as a first-degree archaeological site in 2010 by the Şanlıurfa Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation Regional Board, were carved into the rocks in the Middle Ages. It is known that the caves, which are about 2,000 years old, were used as places such as dwellings, workshops, cisterns and mills in the Roman Period.
