Ertuğrul Gazi Tomb

Ertuğrul Gazi Tomb is the tomb of Osman Gazi, the founder of the Ottoman Principality, and the Seljuk Margrave Ertuğrul Gazi, located in the Söğüt district of Bilecik province. The exact date of construction of the building, which was built in the late 13th century, is not known. It was first built by Osman Gazi as an open tomb, and later turned into a tomb by Mehmed I. Sultan III. It was repaired as if it was rebuilt in 1757 during the time of Mustafa and the state in which it was first built has changed. In 1886, II. It was restored by Abdülhamid and a fountain was added next to it. Ertuğrul Gazi Tomb has a hexagonal plan, is covered with a dome, and is reached after a rectangular entrance. There are two windows on each side of this entrance. The walls of the tomb were built of one row of stones and two rows of bricks. Rectangular windows were opened on the west and southeast walls of the tomb where the sarcophagus is located.
