Ardahan Congress and City Museum

Ardahan Congress Building, the historical building that hosted the 3-5 January 1919 Ardahan Congresses held in Ardahan. The building is adorned with stonework and ceiling decorations. It has the characteristics of Baltic architecture. The building was built in 1911 during the Russian occupation of Ardahan. The decisions taken in the congress held in the building drew the road map of the Turkish National Struggle before the Erzurum and Sivas Congresses on the way to the War of Independence. The congress was held in the mansion of the then Ardahan District Governor Rasim Bey. Rasim (Acar) Bey is a member of Hamşioğulları, a deep-rooted family in the region. This mansion was also used as a hospital for a while. Today, it is opened to visitors as the Congress and City Museum.
